DUTIES: Production Engineer Job Duties: Growing light manufacturing environment. Designs, implements, manages and participates in all aspects of additive and injection-molding manufacturing processes - applying engineering principles, statistical techniques, simulation software, CAD design, 3D printing machine operation, and understanding of rheological properties of polymers. Works with customers and other manufacturers to introduce products from prototype phase to scalable manufacturing. Coordinate experiments and process validations on new and revised products and processes.
Interface with product engineers, tooling engineers, supplier groups, and designers to create manufacturing processes for new polymer components. Hires, manages, supervises, and directs work of personnel involved in parts production. Manages production shop to optimize and implement effective manufacturing solutions for new part designs. Trains team on equipment, processes, development runs of new components/molds, and all revisions, up to and through the operational manufacturing process. Actively and daily works alongside team in production, assembly, quality control, packaging, shipping and receiving of products. Characterize and develop processes/process specifications, which are safe,
cost effective, provide quality parts and maximize machine utilization.
Develops tool design concepts, participates in procuring tooling (including purchase requisitions, and specification definition). Develop secondary fixture design concepts and participate in procuring secondary tooling including capital requests, equipment specification, purchase, installation and validation. Provide technical information on new products and processes to President. Maintain and share knowledge of materials and processes to maximize performance. Create concept proposals and technical specifications, perform cost reduction and manufacturing feasibility studies. Optimize product flow by implementing lean molding strategies.
Develops, implements, and maintains Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring conformance to customer, internal, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, OSHA and regulatory/legal requirements. Requires vendor quality systems, inspection of incoming materials, monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes that affect the quality of the organization’s products. Document control and creation compliant to Quality Certification. Capable of leading a team of Quality engineers, inspectors, auditors, analysts, and technicians. Work with customers, employees, overseas vendors and outsourcing firms to develop and meet product requirements. Report to President on the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement. Oversee product recalls and customer complaints New Product launch Coordinator – PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, CP. Responsible for accuracy and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring devices. Create and maintain error proofing and safety processes.
